The extended Lorber family gathered to celebrate Dad's 66th. Spaghetti & meatballs. A Route 66 cake.

With Dana & Jack, the habanero cornbread recipe is at reciplex.com. Lara's chili was fantastic. Depth of flavor from a can of Goya's Chipolte in Adobo Sauce, coffee, Guiness Extra Stout, and the secret ingredient. Dana & Jack brought a fine Rioja that had enough muscle for the menu. A 2004 Reserva. The stroopwaffels at the end put the meal over the top.

A party in the park. Eli was hopping excited to receive a scooter from Gigi & Redbeard and a tricycle from Nana & Grampa. Mitchell's family gave a monkey, Auntie Shana's gift was a helmet. Many friends attended, Sylvan, Sylvie, Tex, Theo.

Pool party at Uncle Lucky's pad. The sky was overcast, but that didn't keep us out of the pool. Devra's pulled pork was outta sight.

The house provided pad thai, the Duttons came with tom yum soup and cupcakes. Eliza brought a cabbage salad. Audrey and Bob cam with salad, and plenty of pilsner. I tried out my new martini recipe, I liked it very much. Mimi was the guest of honor. Honor made killer peach cobbler.

MIMI cooks! Lebanese. Victor grilled the eggplant and squash. Hummus, tabouleh, chick pea salad, lima beans, oh my.

This time with Joanna & Victor. We thought the food was down a notch. The chef was not on duty. Burratta again. Arctic char, boar bolognese, (2) steak frittes. Victor and I made up for our pregnant wives. We thought we had the most pregnant ladies at one table, but there was another table with three (3)!

Fantastic burratta app. Lara sent back the rioja. In doing so, she met Will Gilson. The nero d'alva was just right. We had steak frittes and an incredible pork chop. My barbera was good. We met with Liz & Brendan at The People's Republic and then got a tour of the couple's new digs. I love you, Lara.

Potato salads, veggie burgers, turkey burgers, and Italian sausage. A keg of Bud (I think).

All cases were settled before the trials could start. I had two $0.25 hot dogs from the Richdale on State St. during our 9:30am-10:15am break.

Stayed with Matt Zablocki near the bottom of Park Slope. Visited the BBG, Prospect Park Zoo. Aunt Joan on the Upper West Side. Bagels and coffee and noshed around town. Met Yoav Bergner for sturgeon at Barney Greengrass. Got lost @ Bierkraft.

Visited the Walker Camp on Alton Bay. A bit of hiking and cross-country skiing. Good food, good beer, good friends. ...and a fireplace!

First class in 10 years!

Skied @ Alta and Snowbird. 13" of new snow at Alta, great runs at Snowbird. Then 4 days at NA-MIC's 2009 AHM and Winter Project Week.

At the Lorbers, with Diane Brunkhorst and Mike & Jill Brook. Missy Fraser visited on Friday. Christmas dinnner featured a roast ham, and many sidedishes. Butternut squash risotto, an artichoke-green bean casserole, shredded brussel sprouts. Not to mention twice baked potatoes. I knitted a Red Sox watch cap, and glasses holder; Lara a scarf. I made a flag holder for Dad, to display his father's 48-star flag. Grampa made an igloo and walking trail for Eli. We used a push sled to check out the snow cat.
